Electrolysis Pre-Care

Hydrate & Moisturize

It's important to be hydrated for your treatment as dry hair follicles are difficult to treat. Your session will be more comfortable and more effective when you drink plenty of fluids the day before, day of, and day after your appointment!

Clean Skin Only

Cleanliness is an important part of your electrolysis treatment. Please make sure you are showered and clean before you arrive for body treatments, especially those private and bikini areas. Clean skin reduces the risk of infection and irritations. Avoid lotions, deodorants, and makeup the day of your treatment.

Grow Hair to Visibility

The longer the hair, the easier and faster we can work. Choose a day and time for your treatment when your hair is visible to get the best results.

Eliminate Caffeine

Stop drinking coffee, soda, or any sugary drinks/products containing caffeine at least 24 hours before treatment. This elevated caffeine level can make your session uncomfortable.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Avoid sun exposure or indoor tanning beds for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Relieve Pain

You may take an OTC pain reliever 30-45 minutes before your appointment to make the session more comfortable. Avoid medications that thin the blood or have sedative properties.

Electrolysis Post-Care

Avoid Sun Exposure

Avoid sun exposure or indoor tanning beds for at least 3 days or until there is no visual skin irritation. Always use a sunblock to avoid any chance of hyperpigmentation.

Keep Clean & Don't Itch

Bacteria is everywhere! DO NOT itch, rub, or scratch the treated areas. I can cause your skin to breakout in irritations and potential infection.

Swelling & Redness

Swelling & Redness are okay reactions. This conditions will usually disappear a few hours after your session but can sometimes last longer. Apply an ice compress to the treated area for at least 12 hours after treatment.

No Picking

You may experience tiny formations of fluid that appear to look like milia or whiteheads. Do not pop or scratch the area. You may exfoliate delicately with a soft towel to keep clean until they clear.

No Plucking

DO NOT PLUCK in between treatments! Simply do nothing with the new hairs until your next appointment. If you must remove them, you can clip or shave, just be sure the hair has grown long enough for your next session!

Avoid Perspiring

Avoid exposure to hot tubs, saunas, hot showers, gym workouts, or any other activity that can make you sweat for at least 24 hours.
